Coolbinia Bombers Youth Girls had a great year finishing the season as 2017 Premiers. The club values of participation, fun and community were very evident among the Youth Girls, parents and supporters. Our Youth Girls team did the club proud in 2017 – not just for their on-field successes, but also the way they bonded, played the game in great spirit with every player contributing to the team.

Following the launch of Women’s AFL and growing interest in female football, the Coolbinia Youth Girls welcomed 10 new players in 2017. While the Youth Girls focus has always been on skill development, teamwork and fun, after 3 or 4 rounds, the girls also built a desire to win. The  Girls finished the season on top and completed in two tough finals wins to reach the Grand Final.

The Grand Final was played at Reid Oval, Forestfield on a hot, muggy, Saturday morning. Our Youth Girls faced Upper Swan, a terrific team who finished second in the Central Conference North. Lead by Club Captain Maya, the Bombers Girls were keen to start well, and finished the 1st quarter 3 goals to 1 with goals from Bella and Mel. The next 2 quarters were a tough contest with the Bombers and Upper Swan going goal for goal, and by 3 quarter time, the Bombers lead by 5 points. The Bombers girls continued their intensity into last quarter, with full-forward Nicole marking, playing on and gaoling. The scoreboard pressure was starting to affect Upper Swan, and when Chloe, the smallest girl on the park, broke free to race away and goal, the game was sealed. The Youth Girls were home. Coolbinia 7.4.46 defeated a gallant Upper Swan 4.5.29. A great team effort by a courageous and determined bunch of girls – Coolbinia Bombers Youth Girls undefeated and deserving Central Conference Premiers 2017.
