Lighting upgrade project

We are thrilled to announce new 100 lux LED Lighting at Coolbinia #1 Oval is currently being installed.

This upgrade has been made possible through the Financial support provided as part of a 2019 Election commitment facilitated by our Federal Member for Stirling the Hon. Vince Conolly MP. As a result the project was fully funded with $500,000 being made available to the lighting upgrade works.

Once complete this LED lighting upgrade will for the first time allow for night football to be played at Coolbinia. This will be of particular benefit to the Clubs ever growing Female playing group who undertake all games as a Night competition. Up until this project our Girls have had to endure significant travel burdens for all of their games, travelling weekly to venues as far as Ellenbrook, Kenwick and Upper Swan which had suitable lighting. Now with this new lighting meeting Australian standards for match play our Female and Male players will for the first time be able to host night fixtures at Coolbinia for season 2020 and beyond.

This will not only help our current players but it will also remove a significant barrier to increasing participation for new female players looking to take up the sport of Australian Football. As a result the club expects female participation to continue to thrive and grow in our area. In 2020 Coolbinia proudly cater for 1 in 4 of our members being female, and with the culmination of this important project those numbers are expected to grow even higher.
