#flashback#catchinguponallthethings#goingbackintimePresenting your 2023 Life Members 👏🏽👏🏽These will be done on three seperate posts as they all deserve the individual highlight of recognition! ❤️🖤NON-PLAYING LIFE MEMBERSHIP🖤❤️Non-playing Life Membership is not automatic and is only considered for individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service to the club as a Volunteer for a period of at least 9 years. Periods of that contribution must show an impact and benefit to the wider club, not just solely service given to the one team or group. ❤️🖤CONGRATULATIONS to Will Gow!!!🖤❤️You could say Will Gow has the pedigree to achieve this award. His family was involved with the Coolbinia Yokine Junior Football Club, at a time before the merger to become ‘the Bombers’. He and his brother played with distinction at our club. Their parents served tirelessly on the committee and ladies committee, respectively. As you can see, it is in his blood.A generation later, Will would come back to the club with his son, Angus. With a teaching background, he was a natural mentor of young boys who, now before us, are now young men. Serving his apprenticeship as a cool, calm, knowledgeable Year 3 Mods coach, he would continue to Year 9 Youth. Across this period, Will was well respected by his players, parents and opposition coaches. The only time I heard him raise his voice, which took me by surprise that day, was when he revved the boys in a pre-game address for our Year 9 derby. We are still scratching our heads about that result. Will’s coaching attributes are so highly admired amongst his peers, that he was asked to coach the 2016 Year 7s in their grand final, when their coach had to attend a wedding in Queensland. His coaching career would not stop there, as he also was an assistant coach to the Year 9/10 girls two years ago and our Year 12 Demons this year. I was reminded that he also served the committee and our first beloved football subcommittee.Tonight, we embrace his contribution not only to our club, but to our community. He has a similar resume with the junior cricket club, has made and served endless flat whites, cappuccinos and espressos from his van at Yokine Playground and fittingly came back to teaching where he attended school, where else, but Coolbinia Primary. Will Gow is Coolbinia through and through. He loves to see our children strive to succeed. His courage over the past twelve months is to be admired. Next season, is a new chapter. We can sit back, watch the boys plays senior football and see North Melbourne win more than two games and finish above West Coast again. I am so grateful that after playing junior football and cricket together, our paths would cross once again. An astute coach and mentor. Starting in 2011 as an Auskick group leader, he's been a valuable part of the club. From 2013 to 2023, he's been an assistant coach and coach, guiding teams from year 2 to year 10. This year Darren stepped up as the assistant coach for the 7/8 girls. You can also always count on Darren’s involvement in the season launch, game day set up & pack ups, and end-of-season club preparation. His impact is immeasurable. He's a true team player. Darren displays what the Coolbinia Community is all about. Supporting other teams beyond his own children’s involvement. You will regularly see Darren watching other teams in finals, supporting fellow coaches and assisting people on the coaching pathway. 2019 was a tough year for Loui Dimovski when he received the news of his cancer diagnosis. Daz and Libby were the first ones on his doorstep, offering their unwavering support during his battle with brain cancer. This truly speaks volumes about Darren's incredible character and the kindness he and his wife possess.Darren is a well-deserving recipient of this life membership for his outstanding contributions to the club and his unwavering support for his friends.
